How to make bubble tea
The new craze in London is bubble tea with more bubble tea shops popping up on every corner. The great thing with bubble tea cafes is that they are owned by individuals so they all have their own ways of mixing bubble tea. Each individual shops has also introduced their own unique flavours onto the high street.
Here’s how to make your own milk bubble tea.
STEP 1 – Buy your tapioca pearls.
Firstly you will need to get yourself some Tapioca Pearls. You can pick these up from any local Chinese supermarket. Wing Yip will have a great selection of Tapioca Pearls, here.
There will usually be instructions on the packet, which will essentially be to mix 1 cup of pearls with 6-8 cups of water.
STEP 2 – The tea
What you will need to make your tea:
1-2 tea bags per serving, any kind
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
Milk, almond milk, or sweetened condensed milk
The rest is actually pretty simple. You will need to brew a strong cup of tea (this is usually using a Chinese tea Oolong tea). Filter the leaves from the liquid then add the sugar and condensed milk. Mix together then add the pearls.
